I'm Clifford Stumme, and I use literary analysis and research to explain the deeper meanings of pop songs. Feel free to leave a comment or to email me at clifford popsongprofessor. The following blog post is a transcript created by Xalma of the below video. Today we're talking Billie Eilish's new song 'everything I wanted'; she just released it, it's 2 on Trending on YouTube, so it's a brand new song at the time of writing this; and we're going to be talking about what it means exactly, we're going to break down each of the lines, and we're going to go through it. Which if you're a young pop star like she is, it would be true; I mean, she's got tons of money, she's one of the most currently listened to people on Spotify, last I checked she had 45 million monthly listeners, which is higher than twenty one pilots, Taylor Swift, and just about everybody else that I checked; it's insane, she's super popular right now. So in this dream situation, she's having this nightmare, in which she has everything she wanted, yet there is something not right; a lot of you are just looking at her and are saying "you're so wealthy, you must be so happy", and nobody is really thinking that maybe this isn't actually what she wanted. April Cliff's wife has talked about dreams that she had when she was a young kid, where she thought she could fly, and she would jump thinking that she'd be flying, but one time she did, and she wasn't able to fly, so she like split her chin up, and it was pretty intense.

Fans have been waiting for what felt like forever, but Billie Eilish's "Everything I Wanted" music video is finally here. As fans know, the siblings share a close relationship and practically do everything together. That's why it's no surprise the video highlights Eilish's appreciation for her bro. Fans knew the "Everything I Wanted" music video was coming soon, but they didn't know exactly when until Eilish teased something huge on her Instagram. On Jan. Fans immediately guessed it was a new MV, and turns out, they were right. Now, the video is here in all its glory, and it starts with a sweet message from Eilish. While that all seemed normal enough, the siblings then drive on a beach and and eventually into the ocean. Despite the fact that the sister-brother duo are drowning, they don't seem fazed, and even break out into a smile — presumably because they're together. When Eilish dropped the song a few months ago, she explained she and her brother wrote the lyrics together.

Not content to simply rest on her laurels after scoring a No. And there may be even more to come. On it, the VMA winner sets the scene with delicate vocals delivered over a woozy piano medley. The mellow, four-minute track was co-written and produced by her brother, Finneas, and is marked by some of his signature production elements; take the lyric, "I tried to scream but my head was underwater," which sounds as if it's actually being sung below sea level. According to a press release, "everything i wanted" was recorded at Eilish and Finneas's home studio in Highland Park, as well as on tour this past summer. Besides being a meditation on fame, the single is also a touching tribute to their kinship, with Eilish revealing, "This song is one my brother and I wrote about each other. No matter what happens, we always have been and will be there to make it better. But she's not done yet — in a recent Instagram Story , the year-old revealed that she has at least one more new song on the docket, as well as the long-teased video for " xanny. Or even album No.
She became one of the biggest pop stars in the world seemingly overnight, but Billie Eilish's new song, "Everything I Wanted" gets real about her mental health and the pressures of being famous. In fact, the entire song was inspired by a dream the musician had about dying by suicide. But, the track, a collaboration with her brother Finneas, is also uplifting, described in a statement to Rolling Stone as a meditation on fame and a tribute to her older brother. Eilish has previously opened up about her experiences with depression , telling Elle in September that she was once accused of faking her mental illness by people online, despite being "clinically depressed" as a teenager. I was a year-old girl who was really unstable," she said. However, the singer made it clear that it isn't her success in the music industry that has helped her arrive at the "good place" she's at now. It's not because I'm famous," Eilish told the outlet. It's so many different things: growing up, people coming into your life, certain people leaving your life.
